Last night at our annual inspection and elections, Marty Thompson was honored for his 50 years of active service with the St James Volunteer Fire Department. Marty was voted into membership in January of 1975. He has worn many hats in his 50 years including but not limited to Firefighter, Lieutenant, Captain, Chief and President of the Department. A lifetime of service to his country and his community started in 1966 when he enlisted in the Navy, served 3 years and then another 26 in the reserves. He joined the Suffolk County Police Department as a patrol officer and received promotions to Sergeant and Lieutenant. When he retired from Suffolk he became Chief of the Head of the Harbor Police Department. Marty still serves with the HoH Police Department today. Join us in honoring Marty for a lifetime of service and his 50 years of active service with the St James Fire Department! |
