On Saturday afternoon at approximately 1:40 PM, we received a call regarding a residential structure fire on Cambon Ave. Upon our arrival, we encountered a fully involved fire, with flames consuming the entire south side of the house and extending to the garage. First Assistant Chief Dave Mills took command of the operations, while Second Assistant Chief Danny Keegan and Third Assistant Chief Eric Orth led the efforts inside the structure. Engine Company 4-3-1 was the first unit on the scene and initiated the interior attack, effectively starting to suppress the flames. Meanwhile, Company 4-3-2 focused on extinguishing the fire in the garage and around the vehicles, ensuring the nearby home was protected from any potential exposure. Engine Company 3, Rescue Company 9 and Hook & Ladder 7 all assisted along with our multiple EMS crews.
Once the fire was under control, our team dedicated the next few hours to checking for any fire extension and conducting overhaul operations.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our neighboring departments—Smithtown, Nesconset, Stony Brook, Ronkonkoma, Hauppauge, Centereach, and Nissequogue—for their invaluable mutual aid. Many of these departments responded directly to the scene, while others remained on standby to safeguard our district during the operation. |
