To Our Community,
On February 26, 2025, members of St. James Fire Department’s Engine Company 1 officially retired their 1993 Pierce Lance fire engine after 32 years of dedicated service. Throughout its lifetime, this engine played a critical role in responding to countless emergencies—from routine fire alarms to major incidents such as the 1995 wildfires and the unprecedented flooding that struck St. James on August 19, 2024. It has served as a lifeline to those in need, helping to protect lives and property in St. James, Head of the Harbor, and the Fairfield Community.
Now, Engine Company 1 proudly welcomes its replacement: a state-of-the-art 2024 Spartan Gladiator, pictured here alongside the dedicated members of the company. Members of this company stand ready to continue their mission with the latest in firefighting technology and safety enhancements. This new addition will allow us to serve our community more efficiently and effectively for years to come.
The members of Engine Company 1 extend our deepest gratitude to the Fire Commissioners, Chiefs, and everyone who played a role in making this transition possible. Your support and dedication to the safety of our firefighters and the community do not go unnoticed. Most importantly, we want to thank our community for your continued support.
We look forward to seeing you out in the community and invite you to stop by the firehouse to see the new engines. Engine Company 1 is honored to serve, and with this new addition, we are more prepared than ever to answer the call.
Stay safe and thank you for your continued support! |
