At 4:53 a.m. this morning, the St. James Fire Department was dispatched for a reported brush fire in the fields of BB & GG Farmstand. Upon arrival, Assistant Chief Danny Keegan found a fully involved greenhouse, a tractor trailer, and multiple chicken coops.

It was a busy weekend for many of our members. We started on Saturday with the St Patrick's Day Parade. We were joined by the Smithtown Fire Department, Nesconset Fire Department, Kings Park Fire Department, and the Nissequogue Fire Department. This past weekend saw two consecutive days of Ice Rescue Training. On the first day, a team of St. James Fire Department members trained under the guidance of Past Chief and Smithtown Harbor Master Mike Grayson at Cordwood Beach.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Past Chief Robert W. Ziegler, a member of Engine Company 1.

Chief Ziegler joined our department on July 5th, 1961, and was an active member for 37 years. He has been a life member for the past 27 years. He served as Assistant Chief from 1971 to 1974, and Chief of Department from 1974-1975.
